Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe to my newsletter, I collect your email address. Technical information associated with the subscription, including the time of subscription, IP address, and referral information, may also be processed.

I use this information to:

manage your subscription;
send you the newsletter and related announcements;
maintain records of subscription and consent;
respond to unsubscribe, access, or deletion requests.

The lawful basis for this processing is your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in each newsletter or by contacting me.

Buttondown

The newsletter is administered and delivered using Buttondown, LLC. Buttondown processes subscriber information on my behalf and uses other service providers where necessary to operate its service.

Buttondown is based in the United States. Subscriber information may therefore be processed outside the United Kingdom using the contractual data-protection safeguards described in Buttondown's data-processing agreement.

I do not sell subscriber information or provide it to third parties for their own marketing.

Email tracking

I do not use Buttondown's optional individual open-tracking or click-tracking features.

Retention

Subscription information is retained for as long as it is reasonably required to administer your subscription, respect unsubscribe requests, and respond to data-protection requests.

You may request deletion of your information by contacting me.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

access the personal information held about you;
correct inaccurate information;
request deletion of your information;
restrict or object to its processing;
withdraw your consent;
receive a portable copy of information you have provided.

You may also make a complaint to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has been handled improperly.
